Now that I have my 56 in the driveway at home (and the weather is about to change) I am in the market for a good cover. I bought a "top-of-the-line" cover last week...supposed to be custom fit but the roof section is 17 inches longer than the roof of the truck. Company is sending me a replacement, but I have zero expectation that it will fit any better. Costco has their covers (Cover King) on sale but the online order feature does not show "F100" or "F-Series" as a model under the Ford category. Years ago at a show in San Luis Obispo I saw a truck with a two-piece cover...one piece for the cab and another for the bed, pretty slick setup. Has anyone had any luck finding a reputable vendor who makes a true custom fit cover?
I does blow off in high winds, but I’ve found I can use clamps at the bumpers and running board to hood it down. I use simple spring clamps from harbor freight, 6 total to hold it on in bad weather.
The problem I have with it is the bed collects water like crazy. I’ve tried several ways to get the water to run off but in the end, I need to drain the water after every rain or snow thaw. What I’d like is a cab only cover, then leave my flatbed out in the elements.
Charlie,
Did the cover come in brown cardboard box that said size A on it? That looks exactly like the CUSTOM FIT cover I got for 51. I will tell you this if it rains go outside after it stops and pull the corners where it goes under the fenders. It does collect water on the inside at those locations. I have not figured out how water gets into those places on a WATERPROOF truck cover.

I found that carcovers.com is not the same as carcover.com but they both carry similar/same product line. The box had a part number of UHD-C75257. I ran a couple of searches on that part number and it seems that this cover is being sold as a "custom fit" for various makes/models of trucks. Not good. I did contact carcover.com and reported the poor fit, they were quick to send me a new cover...I haven't received it yet but I am sure that it too will be a UHD-C75257.
Here's another pic...notice the 40 Ford coupe to the side of the F100, that cover is a Cover King and fits like a glove. There is even a plastic tarp under that cover making the fit a bit lumpy and it still is heads and shoulders above the one on the 56. These cover vendors must have a high profit margin to keep sending out this substandard product multiple times. There used to be a convertible top shop at the end of my street where I grew up, he would make whatever you wanted and it looked great.
I got a hold of a couple of upholstery shops here locally and they all say that as long as the cover is too big that they can cut it to fit.
Yea abe, the shop is gone...lots of reasons but now I will be working on the 56 and the 40 one at a time in the garage here at the house. I am putting that $1,400 a month rent check in the bank now saving towards my next project or possibly some interior work on the F100 and coupe.
I wasn't going to post in this thread but.... you guys are not satisfied with your covers.
Mine fit nice and tight. However, they should be used only indoors. Mine do not repel water since they are bed sheets! LOL A king size fitted sheet firs the cab perfectly. The flat sheet fits the hood and front fenders perfectly. And another fitted sheet fits a 6½ foot bed of an F100 perfectly. And for added pleasure, the pillow cases fit over the original stock mirrors and arms.
I too have used sheets with success in doors Abe but sometimes you get too many toys to keep inside.
I now know what you mean. Can you find a storage place for the winter? Every winter that I had my F350 I stored it in warehouses or sheds ranging from $100 to $150 for December through March.
SealSkinCovers Is where I got mine. Poor fit seems to be the standard.
That's the way the one I got from carcovers.com for my pickup. Was supposed to be for a 56 F100 and doesn't cover the running boards ..big disappointment..
How do you keep the bed cover from filling with water every time it rains or snows. Mine gets so full that I need to siphon the water out before removing the cover.
