Reset Outside Air Temp When Parked?

I have a issue, the AC will not turn on when it is(or when the truck thinks it is) cold outside. The problem here is that the outside air temp doesn't reset when the truck is stationary. I use the truck as a office so this can be a problem.

It was 24 deg F this morning when I parked my truck, now mid afternoon it just hit 80 deg F outside but since the truck still thinks its 24 since it will only seem to update the air temp after it's been driving for awhile.

I had the same issue with my GM trucks but with some research I found a trick that let me reset the temp by holding a couple buttons down for 5 seconds. Is there something like this for the Ford?

I tried resetting the radio by holding the "Vol" and ">" buttons but the temp doesn't update when it reboots.

Taking the truck for a drive isn't a option.

Truck is a 2020 F350 Platinum

I don't think it works like that

My trucks would periodically do the same thing but the air condition still works.

The air conditioning works with the defrost mode in the winter.

Forget the auto and run it manually. The auto feature is junk in these trucks. I always have my fan on 5 and temp between 68 and 72 depending on the day and how the sun is shining in the windows. Also have it blowing on the floor and windshield as I hate it blowing in my face but like lots of fresh air.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with being stationary perhaps, when I started driving last night I watched the outside temp and the instant it updated to a warmer temp after a couple min of driving the AC started blowing cold so I think it is the "problem".

I also hate the AUTO mode, never use it so it's not the issue here...

Northern Alberta, we get some crazy temp swings here. Not just same day swings but our annual highs and lows spread is huge, can have -40F in in winter and 105F + in the summer.

I've used my AC while driving in the winters to defog and it worked for sure, something is stopping it when below a certain temp while stationary for some reason, I've seen it on other tucks also so I think its common but not to most people as most don't spent 12-14 hrs in there truck without moving.

I can turn the AC switch on and it lights up but no cold air, I popped the hood and sure enough the AC compressor clutch wasn't engaged.

I would love to get this figured out. Going to have a look in the plain English side of ForScan later today.

Could it be a problem with the sensor that the A/C uses to decide when it's too cold to operate the compressor?

I wasn't really even aware until this thread that it's normal for a compressor to not turn on bellow a certain outside temp.

Probably your fan clutch on the engine is not engaging and the pressure is to high in your condenser.
If you lightly tap your throttle pedal when the ac stops you should be able to hear your engine fan rev up if not that very likely is the problem. A set of refrigeration gauges would eliminate all guessing.

What same thing?
The lag time on the temperature sensor. The lag is not consistent. I would venture to say it's more of a rarity than it is normal.

Example, my shop is air conditioned, I've left some mornings during the summer. The truck will start off at 68°, driving hour to work and it will still read 68° for when it's hotter than hell outside.

Buddy of mine has one where the temperature gauge constantly reads below zero and I've never noticed any problems with air conditioning.

Then again both of these trucks have manual settings.

Wouldn't that be a completely different sensor? The sensor used to show outside temp is under the one of the side view mirrors, I have not noticed much lag at all with the temp shown on the Sync screen. I would think the A/C system is using a seperate sensor though, is it not?

Thank you! This is exzactly what I was looking for! I just did it and it worked. it was -1C(30F) from my drive to work and it updated to 26C(79F) and allowed me to turn the AC on.

I will copy and paste the post you linked to below:

Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) Sensor

The Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor is an input to the PCM. If the outside air temperature is below approximately 0°C (32°F), the PCM does not allow the A/C compressor clutch to engage.

The PCM sends raw ambient air temperature data to the FCIM. The FCIM filters the raw data, sends it to the APIM and the touchscreen displays the outside temperature.

After replacing an Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor, the sensor data must be reset by either driving the vehicle at speeds consistently about 20 MPH for at least 5 minutes to update the filtered data or perform the multiple button press reset procedure to update to the current raw value.
The multiple button reset for the Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor is as follows:

On the HVAC panel controls, press the A/C and Recirc buttons simultaneously, then, release both.
Within 2 seconds press the A/C button again.
