I have 79 F-150 Ranger 2wd 302 aod and still has factory 2barrell carb. Transmission went out. Had a friend of friend pull it out to fix or swap the transmission. Long story short never seen transmission or guy again and recently put a newer aod in now I have no shifting linkage or TV rod and don't see any wires or plug for nss. What type of shifting linkage from what years of vehicles would work?
Are you sure you have a AOD transmission in that truck?
From what I seen that transmission was not used in trucks till think mid 80's.
If that is the case then you will need to look at mid 80's trucks for needed parts ans even then may need to rework them to work in your truck?
If it is a AOD then it does not use a computer but dose use a TV cable and if not adjusted right the trans will burn up in no time so has to be adjusted right from the get go.
One of the big issues is how the cable hooks to the carb as the carbs for the AOD trans have a different cable hook up.
I hear the kits sold to hook the cable to after market carbs dont work right and need reworking to work right.
As for the NSS I dont know if on the trans or on the column in your year truck?
Do you know where the back up light switch is?

It's shown on your picture above right above the shifter screwed into the trans. You just need to get the harness for the correct year Trans and wire it to your truck's factory harness.
I have the nss plug for this new er transmission can't find the existing plug and or wires to bypass or hook up to. I know about how important tv cable is to aod I don't drive it but want to I found and made a custom linkage but not right. If I pull the shifter in to first gear position the shift display shows it in neutral. Not sure if that is bad but i would like it to show im in proper spot. So just want to start with proper linkage whitch don't exist considering my truck proly came with the c4 so what linkage I had b4 was modified is my hypothesis or will factory linkage for c4 work?
Your truck predates the AOD by a year, so you'll have to look for linkage from an '80 or up.
The shift display is probably a mechanical indicator behind the window--something you might be able to adjust or fiddle with if you can get into the steering column or behind the dash.
This is a TV cable, there are several flavors you can check to see which one might work for trucks:
Thanks for replying. I'm try junkyard yard as soon as I can for linkage I work nights and might have to sacrifice a night's sleep. Is it possible linkage from a Ford car in that 80-85 year area with 302 aod would fitment? Cause pretty sure our junkyard only has 4x4 p/u. A pic of oem linkage would be nice if possible
