Digital Speedometer
Just dawned on me what Matt(Beast12) was referring to. How stupid can I be, of course he's referring to the bulbs in the dash that are the speedometer. Did you check the bulb/bulbs? I don't know what kind of lights the speedometer uses, but this could definately be the problem. Everything else could be working OK, but if the lights that indicate the speed are out, you can have a reading, but won't be able to see it.
Try removing the instrument panel and checking the bulbs.

I checked all the bulb while back when I pulled the panel out. All lights seemed to be intact. I even used a magnifying glass under a light to make sure the bulbs were working. I even cleaned off the pins with some electrical contact cleaner/lube/protectant from ther auto parts store. I am taking it to a mechanic today and have him put it on a computer tester to see if they can find the problem. I figure the only thing else the problem can be is either a broke wire or ground problem or the actual lcd panel where it lights up at is burned out. It don't look burned. Does anyone have an idea how much the speedometer & Odometer panel would cost? I appreciate everyones help. When I find the mystery problem, I will definately bring you all up to speed, can definately write this one up in the books huh? lol.. I hope all has a awesome Thanksgiving. Joe

I have the same problem. My odometer & speedometer does not work. However everything else such as my rpm, gas, water, battery, oil and such works. My radio hasn't worked since I bought it. It turns on and lights up but when I push the tune button or scan or other buttons, its no sound other than it sounds like my speakers are blown. I was told that auto zone runs computer diagnostics. I am taking my van to auto zone and see if they can pin point my problem. I replaced both speed sensors, the one in my tranny and the one in my differential rear end. All fuses are good. The only thing I havent replaced is my LCD panel where my speedometer and odometer is. I went to the junk yard before thanksgiving and found a lcd cluster but unfornunately it was for a 3.0. I might check a few more before I go brand new. As far as your heater goes,it sounds like you have a blower problem or your heater core is stopped up or something. I will check my book out and see if I can help pin point your problem. Maybe you can go and get your van a computer testing and see how your fuel injectors, throttel position sensor, your egr valve and such. Either one of them can mess with your take off power. I am no mechanic by far but I have expirienced alot in my days. Well dude,if ya come accross any solutions, please keep us all informed,ya never know when we will have same problem and need to know how to fix the problems.
Take care,
Joe
If your entire instrument panel goes out when you turn on the lights, there is one other thing you can check. There is a temperature fuse in the panel dimmer control that can blow. It happened to mine once when I decided to turn down the brightness of the instrument panel just a little. I don't think Ford sells just that fuse alone, but want you to buy the whole control unit. I took it apart and shorted out the fuse. I now run the panel at full brightness or at very low brightness. Dimming it just a little builds up too much heat in the short segment of the rheostat that's left in the circuit.
