Wheel Rim Bead "K"

How significant, if at all, is a rim bead for our wheels other than the standard "J" profile? I picked up some 16" steel wheels (16x7) at a good price instead of 16.5 split rims.

I'm not finding much out there beyond the diagram below. You can see the angle of 5 degrees is the same as J's... but there are differences. In short, does it matter? From what I can tell, Jaguars and other 'old' cars ran K bead rims. Never heard of it until I saw it stamped on the wheels. Pics of the wheels too below.

Wondering if others are running off the shelf R16 tires on such rims.

Would hate to have to ship them back, but the seller seems to know even less about them than I do. Thanks, John

I think you are ok.

Some info:

https://www.tyresizecalculator.com/w...l-rim-profiles

Page 28 shows K in a Ford application.

https://www.accuridecorp.com/sites/d...%20Catalog.pdf

As the dimensions you posted show, the "K" rim profile is a little taller than "J". This might make tire mounting difficult. (2.1 to 2.3 difference--not much)

I think you will be able to get a tire shop to check this in under 2 minutes total time.
