Hi everyone!
In 1948 this truck came out of a ford dealer...
In 1951 this truck came out of fire truck company (Thibault) See original picture...
Retired in 1959...
Bought back by me in 2013... in a bad shape...
Working slowly on it since 2014!
Back on the road on september 3 2022!
FINALLY!!!!
So everyone who is working on a truck right now...
It's possible
Don't stop !!!!
Original picture coming out of fire truck dealer! Side Front Inside 1st drive!
Top speed 50 miles an hour pedal to the floor!
I would say that the engine prefer 45 max!
A little bit too slow for me
But the cost of new gear was out my budget.
I have a s10 transmission ready but not sure I want it...
I like the fact that the truck is all original.
For now I will keep my 4 speed transmission...
You've done an amazing job, your truck is gorgeous. If I may make one suggestion for accuracy, you have the Ford hood side emblems swapped side to side. They angled forward to follow the body line on the hood surrounding the trim. With your level of detail I'm sure you want everything right, as seen in this Ford promo pic from 1948.
OUTSTANDING!!! I admire your perseverance and dedication to get it back on the road. She looks amazing!
Is it a flathead 8 with the 4 speed crashbox? My 226 with the crashbox will also do 50-55 mph but is NOT happy there, so I know the feeling. But it isn't about speeding in these. Let people soak her as she lumbers on by!
For the back...
It won't be the back of the fire truck.
I'm a firefighter and I don't want to ride with a fire truck...
And it would ave been a too big investment to redo the back
Now the problem is my garage is small or medium size but too much stuff in it! LOL
But later on I would like to do a flatbed with wood sides!
