7.3 idi question

Hello everyone I have a 89 Ford Econoline Box truck with a 7.3 idi in it at some point someone broke the vacuum pump mount bracket and welded it long story short my bolts keep breaking a friend of mine suggestion was to replace it with a Electric Vacuum pump is this something that's possible and how simple would it be to do?

I would caution against doing this. The engine driven vacuum pump on the IDI and OBS powerstrokes provide massive amount of vacuum volume to run the brakes and the HVAC controls. Superdutys have hydro boost brakes and it doesn't need vacuum to operate. The only reason the superdutys have a electric vacuum pump is to run the HVAC controls, which doesn't need much. The electric vacuum pump is not big enough to operate the brake booster more than once in a short amount of time.
Best thing to do would be to find another bracket to replace your broken bracket.
