Finally got all the pieces painted! Will start the sanding (not again, lol) and buffing soon. It is just crazy to think of all the hours I spent sanding on this thing. It is by far the most labor intensive part of the build bar none! Will hopefully be able to keep this thread going as all the others end up ultimately not letting me post pictures.
The colors are original. The name is Durango Tan (AKA Golden Rod in 72) with the Wimbledon white top. Those are my seatbelt covers you are looking at or at least that’s what I think you are refueling to as mounts. It has some orange peel and a couple small runs that I will sand out but all in all pretty good. I would rather have a run than be dry on the clear Or a least thats my story and I am sticking to it.
I love it. Well done. I edited my question while you were answering it...after I looked at the photos again and realized my mistake. But thanks for clarifying the mounts in the meantime. You're going to have to park that at the very end of every parking lot when done. It's just too nice.
Your original paint job didn't have the two tone paint job across the rear of the cab right? (The section hidden by the bed). When I removed my bed, I noted that the two tone color only extended about 8" past the bend of the cab. The rest was the base color of the truck. More just curious. I'd do the same thing as you if I was at the point of painting.
