Polished the cab corner and it sure looks smooth and shiny. Sanding and buffing makes a huge difference in the shine! I will more than likely be stepping to the side and letting the professional do this part of the job. I would hate to sand through or burn an edge! I had a small run in this area and it sanded right out.
If you have 2 coats of clear, you would need to be a bit careful on buffing doors, panels etc.Especiallyt if there is a REAL dry spot or a big sag/run.1000 grit,as you know ,does not remove a lot of paint .3 coats of clear and you would have a tough time going thru'. Masking tape on edges will help &gaps will help. Good luck!
As it looks like you got a pretty good flow/gloss with your paint, I could sand and buff the entire vehicle in under a day easily. The clean up,hand polishing ,etc, etc, takes quite a bit of fussy time in addition.I think you can do it !
Got some Dynamat down to get the firewall ready for the install of wiper motor ect and ABS insulation cover. Also mated the bed to the frame. Not lined up or shimmed into place but back on!
Trying to get this whole hydroboost thing figured out. Plumbing stuff is never ever easy! Had to flip the unit 180 to clear the valve cover. Have to remake a line and get adaptors for the steering box then rebend the master cylinder lines to line up. I have a new factory booster but as you can see not much room between the valve cover and booster, hence the upgrade.
Had to order a new hose for the brake upgrade. Will also be looking at different mounts to lean the hydro booster back some. Did get most of the dash in or at least what is behind the metal part and Dynomated the roof. Did install a new heater core from NPD. It was their copper one. Steering column next and Borgeson shaft upgrade.
Dang! That is sexy. I may have missed it, but what front axle and power steering did you go with? I've been on the fence on what to do with my 75 highboy. I believe I will use a 79 F250 dana 44 and power steering gear.
I used the disk brake lower pinion from a 77 F250 4x4. I then addd the 78/79 F250 four bolt steering box. Had to fab a little but hoping it is worth it.
