Question cat effect on computer

im starting to think about getting my pipes done on my 92 f150 with a 351w now that i have a little bit of money to play with. my question is, if i remove the catalytic converter, will that cause my check engine light to come on? if it wont effect it any then im going to get true duals with glasspacks, if it will then im just going to put a glasspack behind the cat, either way ill have dual outlets straight out the back.

thanks in advance

This link was a sticky on this forum, and I have no idea why the moderator took it off. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...hreadid=162232 That should enlighten you to some of the detrimental effects of removing smog equipment. And yes, removing the cats can cause the CEL to come on. If you are set on running duals, keep it legal. Run one or two high flow catalytic convertors and O2 sensors, instead of nothing. [rant]I do not know if this is the case in youre state, but some do not test emissions. That doesnt give everyone and their uncle free reign to continue to ruin the air for the rest of us who do have testing. Emission equipment is a good thing. Please do not take offense to my position, I just think removing said equipment in this day and age shouldnt be tolerated. [/rant]
