If the 7.3L was a turd we would know it. Members are not shy about posting their experiences with the trucks, especially bad experiences. It was pretty well known that the 6.0L PSD and the 6.4L PSD were problematic within 6 months of the engine release.
The 7.3L Godzilla has been with us a few years now. A few production issues surfaced, a few bad parts were discovered but the engine has proven itself as reliable.

Agreed and I have no dog in this fight; I ended up going diesel but I'd have no problems buying a 7.3 based on all the available info to date.

I am not a ford or modern engine expert.. But.. wouldn't most of the gas V8's in Super Duties during that period be overhead cam engines.. I think.. they don't have lifters// so it would be doubtful your cousin saw many issues with lifters. Or flux capacitors.

I agree. The 10 speed is what steered me away from taking delivery of the '22 I ordered. Different subject though.

I'm new to the game with the 7.3 and 10 speed but so far it's been nothing but fantastic!

"Good morning. I am not sure where you are getting your information, but we don’t have any 7.3 super duties here. We sell very few 7.3 liter trucks. Most of our heavy duty trucks that we sell and service in this area are 6.7l power strokes. People love their diesels in this area. That being said, of the few 7.3L that we have serviced here they have been good trucks."

Edit:
Oops, I thought I had the dealer that was supposed to have 70 7.3L trucks waiting for repairs.... Sorry RidgwaySD.
I should of been getting that info from FishOnOne.

To be fair, what FORD dealer is going to actually willingly disclose how many trucks they have awaiting repair to some random stranger in an Email? Also, what FORD dealer is going to willingly badmouth a Ford product about any "common" problems to said random stranger that sends an Email?

LOL, I let that one go, but now that you brought it up

The diesel engines are pushrod, so we can give him that.

Gas engines aren't de-rated in C&C trucks like the diesels are. C&C trucks are rated at different RPM's making the power output look like less. Check out the RPM's that the C&C truck is measured at vs. the F350 pickup.

F550 C&C:

5.4L 3V only though. Hardly any 4.6L 3V or 4V Phaser failures and the rest of the OHC V8 and V10 engines beside the 6.2L and 5.0L never even had camshaft phasers.

Ford has a very good history with their OHC gasoline engines, and their newest pushrod seems to be doing well so far.

Don’t know if this helps. But this morning early I was filling the beast up 2021 7.3 CCLB 4.30 rear to head iut of town for a week. Anyway the guy saw I was in a suite and tie and he asked me if i had sales experience. We got to talking as he had one of the new rangers. Nice looking little truck. Its his daily driver. He also owns a mustang and another truck f150 coyote I believe. Any way he works at the big RV camping world. I said what motor do y’all have in those rv’s. He said the new godzilla 7.3. I said I have the same engine in my truck. He said they are the best engine and least amount of issues and he has been doing this for 20 plus years. I said there is talk about failures etc on this engine on the internet. He said they have had zero issues and he has at least 30 customers already over 100k miles . He said our biggest problem is we have had 100 catalytic converters stole in the last few months. Thats his biggest complaints. That 100 was owners and on lots. Take it for what its worth. Yes some have issues but I doubt its the majority.

They are only electronically limited, but no actual engine difference. The C&C 7.3L shifts early around 4100rpm compared to the pickup at a significantly higher rpm.

I just have 1 point to make and I'm sure someone has already mentioned it. Why would they bring the old pushrod motor back if it wasn't going to be reliable?? Nuff said. I'm on my 2nd 7.3. no, not a lot of miles, but, no issues at all either.
