ABS Code C1095

While not an F-150 or even a pickup, still a Ford and still same codes and parts. 1995 Grand Marquis. It has been a garage queen for the past who knows how many years, and has recently been put back in service. Have a trans line to fix, fuel system issues running lean both banks, hoping a new fuel pressure regulator solves it. The thing I am trying to troubleshoot now is the ABS. At low speeds when coming to a stop I hear the pump rattle as if a wheel locks up. It set the ABS light on the dash and I pulled codes with Forscan today. I crawled under and found all the harnesses to the sensors are in good shape, no teeth marks. I see the same going to the bolt down connector at the pump. Because the pump whirs, it sounds like the pump is OK, so my thought is possibly a bad wheel sensor?

Can I do pin point testing with Forscan on this, or do I need a full on scan tool to troubleshoot?

Once I get the trans line and fuel system repaired, my next step is to pull the wheels and inspect the sensor teeth and sensor ends. Hopefully it is just a chunk of rust stuck to the end of a sensor. Overall this car is in great condition considering it has exactly 131000.0 miles on it, and the body is 100% intact, no rust, only some rust under the body and frame. All surface rust too.

If the pump is "wirring" continually while the battery is connected then the attached control module has failed. I had an '03 E-250 with that same condition (different DTC) but the brakes continued to work properly until the van was sold.

The C1095 DTC is not related to the wheel sensors. The definition in the WSM is "HYDRAULIC PUMP MOTOR CIRCUIT FAILURE"

Here's the Pinpoint from the '96 WSM. My '95 manual is on an old XP computer in the basement so I'm "assuming" the system was unchanged from '95 to '96.

PINPOINT TEST L: HYDRAULIC PUMP MOTOR CIRCUIT FAILURE

L1 CHECK 2-PIN CONNECTOR

  • Verify the 2-pin connector from the brake pressure control valve block to the control module is fully seated.
Was connector fully seated? Yes No GO to L2 . Use NGS to re-run on-demand self test; VERIFY DTC C1095 no longer exists.

L2 CHECK PUMP MOTOR OPERATION WITH (NGS)

  • Reconnect 28-pin connector wiring harness to anti-lock brake control module.
  • Use NGS, put anti-lock brake module into diagnostic command mode. Follow NGS instructions to command brake pressure control valve block to run.
Does pump motor run? Yes No GO to L3 . REVERIFY symptom.

L3 CHECK PUMP MOTOR OPERATION

  • Disconnect 2-pin connector on inboard side of anti-lock brake module.
  • Ground brown wire and apply 12V to red wire.
Does pump motor run? Yes No REPLACE anti-lock brake control module. REPLACE anti-lock pump and motor assembly.
