1995 F150

I just bought a 1995 Ford F-150. When taking a little drive in it, it overheated. When putting antifreeze in it, the coolant went from green to looking like water out of a mud puddle. There were no leaks or anything before overheating. So I am assuming that a full coolant system flush is warranted. I also assume that changing the thermostat needs to be done. My question is, after a flush of the radiator and coolant system, would I have to change the water pump?? I can change it myself, but really don't want to if I don't have to. Any advice is appreciated.

Ford F150

I should apologize. I should have introduced myself. I'm Greg, this is my first full size ford truck. I have very limited experience and ability for fixing or working on vehicles. I can do basic work. Thank you for any help and advice.

Coolant turning into mud-puddle water usually indicates oil getting into the coolant then getting stirred up. This is probably going to be a head gasket issue but might be something else. I agree your best advice will come from the "1987 - 1996 F150 & Larger F-Series Trucks" forum.

Welcome aboard!
