ive been to pep boys and discount auto as well as checked out snapon.com which has some "hard-to-find" tools and adapters, came up with nothing.
basically, i need the valve spring compressor for the 2.3l 96 ranger engine, the compressor that was made to fit with the roller rocker arms. im having a hard time finding this tool.
if someone can point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it.
im located in Ft. Lauderdale FL...commercial/university area, so if you no anyplace in my area, please let me know.
also, any websites that have this tool, that would help me too.
Look into a local valve shop. Usually, they have great swap deals and you can get exactly what you want for a fair price by trading yours in. Or have them refurbish yours. I have seen it done for as low as $150. Which is a good deal. The next question is why do you want to compress your springs with the rockers on? Usually the only reason for compressing springs is for vavle removal and the rocker arm must be removed for this.
sorry, may be i didnt explain myself too well.
the compressor doesnt fit around the rocker arm, all the compressor tools ive found were to remove the lifter via compressing the springs, but do not fit the 4 cylinder ranger.
im looking for that tool, which costs somewhere around $15, that fits the ranger over head cam (the others were for over head valves)...basically its about the size of a 1`1`8 wrench and has a curve on the end to compress the springs.
