Hi All. Short story time. When I got my truck, I decided I’d try leaving the front air dam and Prius catchers stock. I use my truck for work, and often find myself on pretty ugly roads that I can’t back out of. The other day I got into a tough spot (rutted road with a few mud holes) and tore my front air dam.
When I replaced the air dam with the 2WD version, I found one of my Prius catchers had torn apart, and dented my frame. Here’s a picture of the dent. I know if I had a chance to do it over again, I’d remove those things immediately. It’s the first blemish on the truck, but luckily it’s not visible. Oh well, I’m sure it will have lots of friends eventually. I don’t think I’ll bother to get it straightened- I don’t think it will affect anything. Passenger frame rail just behind the front bumper- with an extra crease.
The snow plow valence and prius catchers are a joke on these truck if you ever plan to use it off road. I had to get over a pretty steep embankment for a job and I was instantly glad I took the prius catcher off and cut the valence at less than a 1000 miles on the truck. The embarrassment/damage to the truck with those parts on would have been much more than the economy gained by having them on.
The truck handled beautifully on the embankment btw, 3.5 foot steep, sandy embankment, up and down, just a little wheel spin and sway with the rear end locked going up. Highway tires, 50 PSI.
Why do some trucks have these and some don’t? My 2017 F250 didn’t have them and neither does my 2022. And NO it’s not because I removed them😆
Seems like I read somewhere that they had something to do with shipping and other than that, they served no real purpose. Maybe your dealer went ahead and removed them.
Part of the snow plow prep? My 2012 had them and it had the snow plow prep, my 2019 F-450 does not and did not have the plow prep. Anyone have them and does not have the prep?

My '19 F250 does not have the camper package and came with the Prius catchers. I removed them and am running a 2wd valance.

Nothing to do with plow prep. The 450's don't have them.
Here is another thread discussing their purpose as well as some thoughts on why some have them, and others don't. As far as I know all 4wd SRW 250/350 except with Tremor package have them. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...e-package.html

For what it’s worth, my 22 450 has it. I haven’t taken it off yet but plan to soon.

Well, there goes that hahaha. While the purpose of the them is fairly certain, It does still seem to be a mystery what determines which trucks get them, and which don't.
