Main wire loom routing

I need to re-wrap my wire loom that crosses from driver's to passenger side. Can someone post pix of a nice wiring loom secured above the engine on the firewall? I appreciate it.

I should be able to find some pics of my factory wiring a little later. It’s a V-8 though, if that’s OK?
Great looking engine apartment by the way! Can’t wait to see it all tidied up with the wiring in its place too.
Everything is much happier with tidy wiring. :-)

Walked up to my 2 all stock parts trucks, that I have not messed with at all. 1st one is a 2wd 79 F150 w/460 auto w/a/c and 2nd is 4wd 79 F150 6 cyl 4spd.

OEM wire routing as far as I know.

It's all in the clips/details. Always a rat's nest left of the booster, but important stuff had clips and left room for replacement parts.

Thanks heaps for the photos. That helped. My truck originally had a 360 in it, and that is the wiring I now have. It looks as though I just need to enclose the wires and add some nice quality loom clips to support it. Thanks again.

Here is another 2wd 76 F100 with a 360 auto trans parts truck.

Yep just collect it all up, put it in a wire loom and secure with some clamps under the cowl lip.

Here are a couple of very, very low mileage '73s. The blue one is an Explorer w/ an oil bath air filter and an original 8,000+ miles. The second was a really nice one with only a little over 6,000 miles on the clock.

If you need it I'll get a better pic in daylight. When I installed a new wiring harness, I covered all the wires in abrasion resistant braided nylon loom. I get it from McMaster Carr, and keep several sizes on hand. You can get the same stuff, but in a split loom, so you don't have to cut any wires. The split loom just slips over the existing harness, then automatically wraps back around itself. I secured everything to the firewall with rubber lined clamps, which are attached with rivnuts. You don't need rivnuts, just use self tapping tech screws.

NICE! THAT is sweet. I'm going to do that. I have the rivnuts, just never thought to use them. That is clean and orderly. I have to have it. I also spotted dual batteries and a hydroboost unit. Thanks for the photo.

Yep, I installed hydroboost, then the wiring harness along with dual battery setup a few days later. And I noticed hydroboost in your engine bay. And the AVS2. I love that carburetor. And I like the aluminum heat shield under your carburetor.

The dual battery setup paid off a lot this weekend. I used my winch four times. I recovered two trucks, a tractor, and my truck. Before I had dual batteries, my volt gauge would nearly bottom out while winching. And the winch would slow down a lot under heavy load. Now it doesn't slow down, and the gauge doesn't go below 12.5V, even while I was winching that 6 ton tractor.

Speaking of the dual battery setup, the part I'm most happy about are the Fastronix battery cable terminals. These are the best I've found. Made in USA, lead, multiple attachment points, and nice looking covers.

I finally got around to organizing my wiring a bit. If you scroll up to my first photo, you'll see the difference. I am very pleased. I found the the plastic loom surround material I had put on years back was falling apart, wires showing through in several places.

Next I'll take a swing at the passenger side fender wiring mess. I have 3 relays and the wiring for my dual fans there. I need to add a wiring block where I'm able to attach wires to get power. Any ideas?

I see an Edelbrock AVS in one picture, what looks like a Summit carb in another.

Which do you prefer?

I have a Summit on one of my cars, its been awful. It will be going back to Summit next week.

You can make, or buy a relay & fuse block. I bought a blank block that I wired myself. It's mounted on the driver's side apron. It has six relays and fuses. I power it with a constant duty solenoid, which is triggered by a keyed wire, and powered through a circuit breaker. The photo was taken before completion, and doesn't show the trigger wire, outgoing power wires to individual accessories, or the diode between the two small polls.
