So what's Jim Farley going to do about it? Great leaders ensure there's a path forwards for their vision to ensure sucess. He's committed big bucks, split the company into two divisions (division has never been a recipe for success) layed off workers and now he has to raise prices we've never seen after a new vehicle launch.

If they sell as many Lightnings as they plan, and they turn a profit, why should he do anything? I'm certainly not happy about it, so I'm looking closer at other options. But Farley is has to act in the long-term interests of the company and its shareholders, not me.

The article cited in the OP calls out "...price increases don't apply to current order holders who are awaiting delivery...". To me this reads only if you've actually gone through the order process already, and not just the $100 reservation. Is that a fair reading of that?

Any other reading would render the increase meaningless. The reservation banks were shut down at the end of last year, and nobody who’s not currently in line will likely get a truck until 2024. Of course, that may change if enough of us decide it’s no longer worth the price of admission after the increase.

The reason I ask is you have the Lyriq in your list of tow vehicles. Based on my very brief research of the AWD Lyriq, it has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 lbs.
On topic... It is a shame that Ford has seemingly priced their available EV's out of most budgets. Perhaps this is their new business model along with letting all of the people go in order to make up the $3B (I think that was the dollar figure) they set their financial goals for.

I wouldn’t base any argument regarding GM claims. I listen to CNBC in my car (drive about 35k every year ) while I’m working and I can’t count the number of times Mary Barra has come on and stated bold claims for GM that haven’t happened in their timeline.
She has stated that GM will over take telsa (and VW) as the number 1 ev company by 2025 then she came on 6 months later and said North America. Now she is stating otherwise. They made 26 hummers total!
the fact is Ford has a legit EV truck now and Tesla can’t make their future truck even close to what Elon said they would - and GM won’t either. The latest is GM says the Silverado will tow 20k which I’m am thinking they are referring to an HD platform? Because no half ton suspension will be able to do that
I would match ford lightning right now with what’s going on with Tesla.
telsa / musk has increased the price of their car several times because of inflation and supply chain (chicken or egg) He know what his costs are and doesn’t need to take a loss.
We should give credit to ford for knowing what their cost is and since they are first movers in the mass truck ev market - they should know very well what their true costs are and it can’t be cheap
by the time the Silverado actually comes to dealerships they will be a lot more then what they are saying. It’s easy to say you will have the first ev truck on the market and what a made up price will be (she said this 3 years ago , right after she stated GM had no plans to build an ev truck , then did a 180 once ford said they would build the lightning ) Technically she’s correct , they built 26 hummers.
we should give Ford the credit for most business owners like me who may not tow alot but need payload and Ton of local routes 90% of time - my $88k lariat will save me about $12k in gas and maintenance a year.
anyone who owns a business or is part of a financial part of a business knows exactly how much costs have gone up the past 2 years. I don’t expect ford to lower their cost. Anyone who received a quote the past year for anything now says what ? (Good for 7/14/30 days because of inflationary factors ). It’s not fords fault cost have gone up .
i was a 1st month reserve holder and just got to order this past week a 2023. I will have to pay $8k more then a 22. It is what it is. I’m fine with it and life goes on and hopefully will love my lightning.
GM' s planned 2023 EV Silverados-are priced (according to gm's announcements) just like the Fords, the basic work truck will be within $100 dollars of the ford ($39,900), while the most luxurious model will be priced well over $100,000 just like ford's Lightning
