So I managed to get into my truck after it had a total fit. The door locks kept locking as if someone was blasting the lock button. Luckily I had the slider window unlocked. Has anyone had this sort of thing happen? The truck was just locking over and over again for a good 30+ minutes while I was trying to get into it. No idea how long it had been that way either.
Also when I did get it opened it continued locking. I could hear the door actuators hammering away but I could also hear something below the steering wheel that was actuating as well. Not sure if this is relevant.
Any debris or liquid spillage on any of the door lock buttons on the doors? Try removing the door lock switch to see if that stops it. I haven't taken one apart recently, but door lock switches and window switches used to be pretty simple pieces of plastic and little strips of copper to make contacts to little copper soldered terminals. Never heard of this weirdness before and I've been a tech for 41 years. Retired now.
With clicking sounds coming from under the dash, it sounds like it may be the BCM. Mine did something similar a while back and I thought I'd have to get it re-flashed or replaced. Disconnecting the batteries and letting it sit didn't do any good. I had to remove the BCM in order to get the numbers from it. After unplugging it and letting it sit, it never game me another problem after I reinstalled it.
Not sure if my experience is helpful or not. Hope you can get your issue resolved.
2 brand new red top batteries so I doubt it’s that. I unplugged the lock switches and it still continued on so I don’t think it’s that. Talk to me about the BCM? What is it/should I just buy a new one?
BCM is the Body Control Module. It controls a lot of things, including: power locks, windows, auto headlights, interior lights and auto cutoff, things like that. IF it is the culprit, you might be able to have it re-flashed by a dealer, or you could replace it. Theyre readily available on fleabay and other online sources.
Before buying another one or paying for any service, I would recommend disconnecting it completely and letting it sit for a while to completely discharge any remaining energy, then reconnect and see if it behaves. It worked for me several years back and I havent had a problem with it since.
So that’s a bitch to get to. Would I be able to discharge all of the power to it by disconnecting the batteries? It’s just really tucked up there and I would have to take apart the dash to get to. I have a 08-10 dash in the truck.
