I have a 2005 Eddie Bauer Expedition. It has always lived in S Florida until I brought it to S Alabama last year. The driver’s side windshield trim has buckled and separated from the windshield and the body. Can I just buy new rubber pieces and install them myself? Also there is a wire under the rubber piece. No idea what it belongs to. I just bought the vehicle last year with less than 96,000 miles on it.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Call Safelite Auto Glass in Melbourne and have your insurance pay for the repair. These things are known to have leaks, and a new seal install will fix that and give you a warranty.
Thanks for the help and advice to both responders to my post, especially for the complete part number for the molding which I was having trouble finding.
Yeah I would still let a glass shop look at it. It's obviously not sealed right around the windshield. Was the windshield replaced before ? They might be able to pop the windshield out and reseal it using your existing seal.
I will get an estimate from a glass shop. The windshield does not leak however and the glass looks fine. The rubber seal is actually warped and rotted on the driver’s side. Not nearly as bad on the passenger side. I call it a seal but I think it is actually just a trim piece.

The estimate from the windshield place was astonishingly high to say the least so I ordered the part using the info provided by Hamfisted. Many Thanks! It is just a trim piece and installed quickly after removal of the old one and cleaning up all the years of crud from underneath it. Tried to get both passenger and driver’s side parts but the passenger side was not only back-ordered but had no projected date of availability. Luckily I really only needed the driver’s side.
