F150 Lariat SR 1000 Mile Review: Its better than advertised
Alright guys, so we passed the 1000 mile mark yesterday so I want to more or less give my thoughts. The major theme here that I want to give off for the doubters is this. It feels just like a normal F150. If we put stickers, a tailpipe and the normal badges, fuel fill door, nobody would ever know unless they were looking for it.
You do not need to worry about range with these trucks, but you do need to be willing to change your driving style. There are lots of reviews from people driving the truck at a constant speed, interstate, etc. If you do that, you will never ever get good efficiency. It is night and day difference range wise to travel on the highways and byways changing speed from 48-62 with stops and driving and using the brake regen with the contour of the road. In my experience the difference in terms of range is quite honestly 30-50 miles.
For now, at my house the total charge no matter how you look at it is $12 to completely charge my truck. Using the equipment that came with the truck but using my 50 AMP oven outlet takes an average of 12-13 hours to fully charge from "near empty". I believe that if I could have all 50 amps instead of the 32A limit the Ford Mobile Charger imposes, I could charge at best around 8 hours. For the SR the limiting factor is the onboard inverter is 11.96 kWh or something close to that. It hasnt been a problem, and again I am not driving the truck during that time anyways.
The interior is by far the worst part about the truck. The fit and finish is grade A, but the materials used seem to be very substandard. Its my opinion the frunk, shifter and tailgate motor will not last. The leather on the seats is also very bad quality and is already showing a lot of wear for only 1k miles. My major complaint of the interior is that the F150 and by default F250 on up has gone back to 2010 standards. What I mean is that the center console is poorly designed, and wastes a ton of space. The cup holders do not pull out, none of the small spaces are easy to clean like when the 2011 F250 console came out. The cupholders in the door are worthless and undersized. We dont drink soda, but the 16.9 oz bottles may be the only thing that fits without force. There is silverish gray piece of trim that makes the overall leg space feel cramped but I am 6'3.
The total screen experience sucks for people like me who would prefer the buttons, but I can honestly say like I did in the video. This is by far the smoothest, lag free, ease of use software ever put in a Ford in my opinion. The Navigation is really good, but Ford will need to update some functionality features that are easy. For instance there is no way to silence the tone or voice guidance that I could find. I was not able to skip certain legs of a route, which made me have to stop and program it without that route. The sound system are good, the subwoofer will make the truck rattle a little.
The towing and overall workability of the truck is unbelievable. Like previously stated its my opinion that if the truck had LT tires and off the road, you could go well over 10,000lbs. Applications like hauling hay, sugarcane, and other crops are no problem. I am fully aware of what Ford tow ratings are.
The Home Integration System offers a capability many are squabbling about, but you can charge this truck with solar panels, the Ford Charge Station Pro and the Home Integration System. If you want this, give SunRun a break and just talk with them about installation.
In conclusion the truck is worth $70,000, but I dont think I would have bought this same truck at a price higher than that. Ford has done a great job, but they have a long way to go to match where Tesla is at EV technology wise. I hope despite any feelings, you guys give the truck a try because its a total game changer for professional sportsmen like me who go offgrid a lot. More updates will be posted including towing efficiency and how best to max out while towing.

Regarding the navigation voice/guidance volume, try this...
When the voice is speaking or providing directions, push the volume down button on the steering wheel. ONLY when the voice is speaking and ONLY with the steering wheel volume.
This is how it works in our 2016 Escape and we found it by accident.
Great real world and real use review! Unlike some of the other inflated BS reviews we see on YouTube across the EV industry.
