First post, but have enjoyed the forum. Purchased my first new truck - 2003 F250 Ext. Cab 7.3 Powerstroke - recently. Unfortunately, already have encountered a concern. A post was made by Lil Driver 2 sometime in February regarding Rust Spots and I was hoping to gain some up to date information regarding the issues Lil encountered, as it seems my new rig has the same problem.
The problem being that there are numerous 'specks' all over the hood, top and fenders. Many of these specs are showing signs of rust after 1,000 miles and the first wash job. They are difficult to scratch off with a finger nail and do not seem to wash off. I have taken to the dealer to get their verdict.
There were a number of observations from Lil's early post, from rail dust to acid rain - with solutions from acid wash to some sort of clay bar treatment. If there is any updated information you can 'arm' me with regarding these 'rust spots' and how to resolve them successfully - both for the longevity of the truck and dealing with Ford - I would appreciate it.
