There was a build thread for the truck on the old forum platform, not sure any of that is still accessable. The Mercedes engine was taken from a low mileage 300SD that I bought as a parts car, so no rebuild there.
Yeah my mistake, I meant a truck build thread. I’m not generally an engine conversion guy but that’s sounds cool. I’ll look for it.
That was cool in '76. And the new one is cool too.
No tail lights on the truck in '76?
If you look close below the just married sign, you can see the lights & license plate. They were mounted to the rear frame crossmember. I drove the truck around without the bed on it while the bed
was being painted.
I didnt have them mounted there for very long..didnt want a ticket
In 1967 when i bought my truck from jack it did not have a tailgate fast forward to 2023 i found a 1948/50 tailgate and made it fit my 1951/52 bed that jack had on the truck . then i took some old tailgate chain and added a cross bar to the first link to make it fit better. Now i can haul more junk in my daily. jfb.
I know this is a couple of days late, but I have been busy and I forgot when I had time.
I worked at a lot of residential soccer camps held at colleges and universities in the 80's and 90's. This picture appeared in the local paper. In the early 90's I was working at the local college soccer camp at Lock Haven University. I had parked my truck near the dining hall and went in to eat. My rusty old Ford was well known around town. And being the local HS Soccer coach, I was well known.
The local newspaper sports photographer saw my truck on campus and thought it would make a neat picture.
