If you do an EGR delete on a 2017 F250.. do you have to do a tune?
Meaning do I have to buy a tuner like SCT or something and do a performance tune on the motor?
Or can you just perform the delete and not do a tune?

Of course you would have to tune for any emissions delete.
And, SCT doesn't do delete tunes, nobody does them legally anymore.

You will have to tune the truck to accomplish that. A proper tune eliminates the function of the DPF, SCR and the EGR. No one makes a tune to only turn off one or the other independently. You get it all or nothing.

Why would you want to delete just the EGR???
If I had to choose between any of the EPA ****, I'd choose to get rid of the EGR. Of all the Al Gore required crap, that's the only one actively gumming up the works, literally feeding the engine it's own ****. The downstream crap is just messing with the outflow. Granted, if I did it, I'd do the fully monty and get rid of all of it, but there is a reason to really want to get rid of the EGR cooler.
I'd delete this thread. Read up on the Fed EPA and state EPA's going after not only tuners now but vehicle owners as well. One poor sap in NJ advertised his deleted truck on Facebook market place and had his state EPA go after him. His saga has been hitting the forums recently.

As of now, there is no admission of any illegal activity. Simply asking about deleting is not a crime. I would assume deleting for off road use only might still be an option.
The current administration treats drug dealers and thieves better (no charges, immediately released) than businesses and individuals that delete diesels.
