cleaning buildup in motor

i don't know what to use to clean my 300, 6, F150, 94!
my oil pump screen gets plugged up about every 3 months, i want to clean it but don't know what to use, i have heard and know from 1st hand that using gunk in will take away the the oil in the rod caps, "having blown 1 car up doing that" i have ruled that out.
my Q is what use and how to clean it safely.
please help if u can, i live on limted income of 638 a month, so i can't afford any mistakes.
i did a search but came up empty and i know from reading u guys know your stuff, so plz help if u can, and thank you

Some people recommend using some ATF in it maybe a week prior to changing your oil. My father in law used to pour a half a quart in his 300 every time he changed oil.

What do you do when the screen is plugged? Sounds as though the covers need to come off and cleaned very well. Also the pan should come off. most flushing can be done with diesel fuel as it is the cheaper of the flush fluids. Give us more detail and we'll fix her for ya. Good luck.

One problem with using degreasers inside an engine is that, the sludge it loosens can clog an oil pickup. What color is the oil when you drain it? Could it be some kind of contaminant getting inside your engine? Dirt possibly? I would think after 2-3 flushes it should be all gone.

when the screen gets plugged i replace it with a new one.
this weekend i'mgonna take off the valve cover and oil pan, then clean it with deisel or gas i guess, what ever is best.
was hoping u guys could tell me.
the oil is ok when i pull it, but the pan and pickup screen has little pellets of oil, and it gets in the screen, looks like fine buck shot, and it's caked on the bottom "none moving part" of the motor, i have not had the valecover off yet.
the oil is not discolored.
hope this helps thanks.
ps; i had a guy tell me to use oven cleaner after i pull the cover and pan, sounded like it was not something i should be doing, therein lies the Q what to use after i pull the valve and pan.

I just use gasoline and a wire brush normally, anything to get it off. Then a clean rinse with gas and wipe it out with a paper towel. Buckshot sounds like some kind of additive coagulating like blood. What kind of oil do you normally use? Try some synthetic oil like Mobil 1 next time. Was there ever any additive put in, like teflon based ones or do you use a teflon oil filter like Fram's?

Ihave heard nothing but horror stories about Penziol. One thing you might try is to change your oil with a decent dino, Valvoline or Castrol, then in about 2 weeks do it again, if you still have that stuff in your oil try it again until it's clean. I bet you anything if you kep cycling oil changes until you get all the Penzoil build up out of your engine, then switch to a good syn you won't have any more problems. Also, I've heard BBK, or Bgk something like that is a great cleaner.

Just as long as you don't get water inside the engine, and dry it off real good afterwards, you might even want to spray some paint on it afterwards.
