I've got a 2018 6.7 and after towing my camper about 300 miles I'm getting black smoke on take off and when passing on the highway. I have a proven tow tune at 50hp. It was 100% clean before I towed and now I get small bursts of black smoke.
I've done new fuel filters, cleaned the air filter, and new H&S cold side pipe which was more preventative than anything.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm in Maryland so elevation shouldn't be a concern I don't believe. Also for 8k miles or so the tune was all clean until the last 500 miles or so since towing.
If you go to Proven's website you can create a support ticket with your issue, Do some data logging with your tuner and send it to Proven so they can see if they notice anything abnormal.

check your map sensor. clean it or replace if needed.
50hp tune from Proven doesnt smoke unless you stab the throttle. Even then its not much. I have put dozens of them on 6.7 trucks.
I would look towards something mechanical like the MAP sensor or boost leak.
Proven has a few versions of their OEM tune minus emissions. For example, one for Hiss and one for Rumble exhaust sound. There are other 0HP, No Em tunes available via EZ Lynk if you have one. You might try going to one of those or another 50HP tune and see if it clears up. I've been running one of their 0HP tunes for quite a while and have never had smoke.
Ok, so I tried cleaning the map sensor and I ruined it so I replaced that. The tune was extremely clean prior to me towing the camper and now I'm getting the smoke. So idk if it's necessarily the tune itself but I guess it could be. I have 8k miles or so on the tune and literally just started smoking the last 1k miles. The truck has 39k on it.
