The OEM steering wheel is cracked and the reproduction horn buttons don't fit well. Anyone use another wheel that is period correct, not modern that would also allow the horn to work?
That is period correct as used 71-77. You can adapt a -70 wheel, but according to Fordification, you will have to cut several threads off your shaft to make it work. Or you can buy an aftermarket replacement wheel. Buy your horn pads from a good supplier like DC, not LMC.
I would be more than happy to buy that steering wheel off you if you find an aftermarket one. I have an aftermarket wooden one, slightly smaller than stock, has a center ring that says GT and the horn does work.
$50 BACK SIDE
The 70 steering wheel is a deep dish style and will be to close to your belly I'd just buy a new one from one of the online sellers Dennis. Carpenders iiiiiiis the main suppler who makes them, so everyone gets the aftermarket ones from DC.
PS
I have a nice horn 71-77 wood pattern Piece that fits in the steering wheel slot not like yours. $50.
