Lost another tire

Left for a weeks vacation to Lewes De from Pa. Its about a 2 1/2 hour drive. We had less then 50 mi to go but the drivers side fwd tire decided it no longer needed its tread to complete the journey. The tire never went flat or lost air pressure (still rocking 110 psi). This was the 2nd trip with the new Sailun. Getting good at tire changes

I always heard good stuff about Sailun’s. How many mikes on this one? Is this the 2nd Sailun one that failed?
I’ve had a couple issues with my GY Endurance, two blew within a couple hundred miles.

Smile

At the end of of last year I replaced all four with new Sailun's ($$$) because I had an original tire come apart traveling back from Tenn on I-81N. The Sailun that lost the tread was a new replacement tire I had got a month ago because I ran over a nail and it could not be repaired because it was to close to the sidewall. The replacement tire had about 200 mi before the tread came apart. Have a new Sailun tire installed with a May 2022 date code. Taking bets on how long that one will last Smile

This is the tire that blew on I-81

Go to a 17.5" rim and buy commercial tires. Never look back.

Sailun S637’s are a commercial tire. They do have a recall on some made in 2020 because of the OP’s issue.
He needs to check the dates on his tires.

they are a 14 ply tire whereas my 17.5s are 16 ply G rated. 135 load index. Same G rating but they can handle 400lbs more. I'm at almost 20k miles on my coopers on a 17k lb 5th wheel and they still have the same air pressure from when I bought em.
I could zoom in on his OP's pic and see his ARE a part of the recall. DOT 1YJ and Date 2820

Actually going off the OP's tire size a 245-70r17.5 is .5" shorter and has a 143 load index or 6,005lbs per tire. That is what I meant when I said commercial tire. They are way overkill, you can turn 90 degrees and the sidewall can handle it just fine in a light RV trailer. If you want to never experience tire problems again on ANY camper trailer go with a 17.5" rim and Goodyear, Cooper or Continental commercial truck/trailer tires. My tires are $260/each and could last 80-100k miles thats 1/4 of a penny per mile. The closer you are to the max weight of the tire the quicker the tread will wear regardless of compound.

The OP had 235/85/16 tires load range G and they have a recall on them and they should all be replaced. The 17.5 tires are 215/75/17.5 load range H, they don't have a recall, it's what we have.

There is ample info out there on several RV forums about the bad batch of Sailuns.

They all have the same failure as you posted.

All came out of the new factory that Sailun opened in Vietnam.

So many of this batch failed that Sailun issued a recall.

Yes there was, I had 5 Sailuns on for a year 1000's of mile and then I got the recall notice. Back to the dealer and 5 new Sailuns, score a free years travel.
