I just signed up here. I've been a member over on f150online for about 20 years but have not logged on there (since 2014 according to my last login date!). The site is pretty docile so I looked up F-250 forums and found this site.
I'm hoping some of you can help me with coming up with a fair market, private party sale price. My neighbor's husband passed away suddenly in April after a brief battle with a very aggressive cancer. Mike was an ex-Marine, very meticulous, detail oriented guy and was very mechanically inclined. He was a Ford truck guy for many years having owned several. In 2017 he ordered the truck I'm trying to price for his wife. She has been given suggestions by a few people and I want to see if those are aligned with this community as well before I post it for sale. I simply don't have that answer because I know nothing about the truck. Admittedly too, I have been out of the 'new' vehicle game for quite awhile.
The truck is a 2017 F250 Super Duty XLT 4x4 Supercab - 8' bed. 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel. 6-speed Auto . 63,400 miles. Gray. Very clean truck. New tires were installed in December and have less than 3K miles. There are other options that he chose as well. One thing to note is that he did get cutoff by another driver at low speed when the person ran a stop sign. From what I'm told there was minor damage to the front bumper which was replaced. Pretty sure that'll show up on a carfax. Visually, I can't see any signs of damage or the replacement.
MODS: I've been part of these forums (and many others) for many years so I know this post may come off as me trying to cheat the newbie rules. If I've violated any, please let me know or feel free to take the post down.
I appreciate anyone's feedback. As mentioned, I don't know anything about this truck but I can get answers to questions since there's not a lot of detail here.
Best bet is to just search out similar trucks for sale near your location and see where they are priced.
If a quick sale without hassling with doing a private sale is desired then I would take it to carmax or someplace like that and see what they would offer.
Private selling can be a royal PITA, most buyers don't have cash for outright buying, they want a dealer to arrange financing.
Put the VIN and zip and miles in the Carfax tool https://www.carfax.com/value/ It gives retail, private trade values for it in your market area, and also do what is suggested above, see what they are listing at in your area within 50 miles. Price it just a bit below them if you want action on it. Also, Unless they are paying cash with real bills, note that wire transfers only will be accepted. That will keep scammers away. One other thing, make sure nothing about the husband passing is in it, and no story. Just put the facts in of the vehicle and some really good pictures.
Thanks guys. Sounds advice. I did look it up on kbb yesterday but that's not the be all end all. I'll checkout the carfax site today and will look for comparable trucks for sale as well. I've bought and sold quite a few vehicles private party, via forums like this and can put together a for sale ad with the best of them. I just need to know a little more about what I'm selling before I put it out there.
Thanks. Another friend has it on FB marketplace and has been offered 49K from a local dealer. Of course that's only verbal. I took some pics today and will post the ad here when I'm eligible and see what happens.

The valuations from sites like KBB, Carfax etc.can vary greatly. That along with the insane dealer pricing can make it difficult to know what a true market value is. I would probably do as already suggested, find as many dealer listings as possible, with similar miles and options, and go from there. In the past I have found CarGurus to be pretty user friendly.
Just for the heck of it I checked the valuation of my truck on Carfax, KBB and Nada. KBB came back with an unbelievably high number (almost $8k over MSRP), Carfax the lowest (about $3k under MSRP), with Nada somewhere in between (about $1k over MSRP). KBB and Carfax were private party pricing and "good" condition, Nada said clean retail.
If you have an Auto Nation dealer in your area, you may want to see what they will offer. Their offer was $10k higher than KBB, Carmax, Cargurus, Carvana, etc...
