It may or may not depending on your loads but yes, you should get something. My point was only that it may not make much of a difference depending on your usage and expectations.
The 40A fuse in position 42 was listed as a possible culprit as well. Apparently the owners manual is not correct and fuse 27 is not used in the trailer charging circuit.
The specific behavior of the truck charge power depends on model year. On my ‘18, the e-brake had to be off, service brake applied and in a forward gear. On my ‘20, I only have to depress the service brake.
First thing to check is if the trailer plug has connection to the trailer battery. When I had disc brakes installed the installer screwed up the wiring and disconnected the wire from the battery to the 7 way plug.
Look at the diagram below and check that you have battery voltage between the 2 circled pins.
