Mine leaks enough where the cheapest one is the most attractive option.
If I had some new seals I would probably use blends... I've read thing about peoples gaskets starting to leak and blaming synthetic oil, but I've never seen it. Every car I've changed over with was leaking just as much before as it did after.
Either will be fine. As was stated blended is becoming the norm now a days. Only way to really find conventional is either order it online or go to a small town gas station and get it from them. Thats what I am doing for my '56 cause I cant justify running blended oil for my oil bath air filter.
You could run synthetic oil but I wouldnt recommend it on a high miliage engine as it has a high chance of causing leaks. My new build will be switched to synthetic just because its a better oil for me.
Synthetic WILL sweat through cork gaskets and probably through cellulose/cardboard gaskets. So consider what you have.
l hadn't heard this before.. Good to know.
I use diesel oil in my older stuff, but MobilOne in my newer vehicles (99 and up)... never had a leak but l don't reckon there's much in the way of cork gaskets in those.
The full syn is about the same price as conventional oil anymore, but I'll stick to Delo or Rotella for older cars. I'm not a fan of "blends".
