I need to replace a 6.2L gas engine in a 2015 F250. Shopping around for a low mileage used engine. What year engines will work in the 2015? I have my eye on a 2019, will that work?
Thanks in advance for all responses!
They bumped up hp by ~30ish? I think? in '17, but I imagine there's a different programming strategy for that (I believe there were also mechanical differences to create the extra power)
I'd guess your best bet is '11-16 but I'm not an authority. What results does car-part.com give you?
There is also a dedicated 6.2 forum here, you might get more than the vague guesses I'm supplying you
Thank you WWR for recommending the car-part site, that is a great resource! I believe you are correct, my best bet is staying within the 11 - 16 year range.
VIN 6, 8th digit.
Thanks redford. The truck has ~220K miles. What started as a tick, tick, tick, (lifters?) is now a full-on knock. I brought it to my mechanic and right away he said rebuild or replace.
The rest of the truck is still solid so I feel it worth fixing/replacing the motor. With that many miles on it I just assume replace it with something with lower miles.
I have located an 2016 w/97K miles. $5250 delivered w/1 year warranty parts and labor. Thoughts?
