Even though I don't own a Lightning, I do own a 2003 Fx4 and I though I would get better answers for my question here than on other forums. Have anyone had any experience with Flex-A-Lite 270 Dual Electric Fans or TSP HC7106 Pro Series Dual 11" Fans? The Flex-A-Lite is almost 4 times more expensive ($493 vs $145) but it's CFM rating is 5,500 compared to the TSP at 2,780. Also, the TSP draws 25 AMPs from the system while the Flex-A-Lite draws 28 AMPs. Will the extra AMPs matter? Will I need the extra CFM rating that the Flex-A-Lite provides? How are both in terms of quality? Both have a one year warranty. My final question is, are there any better options?
Important part is that if the TSP fan shroud covers the radiator and if the if 2750cfm will be sufficient in the heat of the summer, when you're stopped at light and the AC wide open. Another factor is making sure they run when the AC clutch is engaged. If it can keep the temps in check, under those conditions, then you should be good.
I'm a little partial towards the flex a lite models because I have a 295 series on my 94; 13.5" dual puller fans with a VSC. It covers the entire radiator, works with my AC, has a soft start and two speeds. I've had zero cooling issues with this setup and it's been on my truck for 15+ years.
Stick with OEM replacement units!
I had to replace the e-fan on my wife's 97 Cougar Sport 10 years ago...the complete assembly including the faring was $129 IIRR Yeah, probably a bit more now but it works!
