Carb leak

Went to start my '74 Normal cold start Pull the choke three stomps Hold the throttle open and it starts right off However acted like I didn't close the choke after start and it died. Upon inspection had lots of fuel on top of engine After drying out had my son observe as I went through my same routine This is what he saw Let me know your thoughts

That's the float bowl vent. I don't know those Motocraft carbs very well, but if one of my Holley's or Edelbrocks did that, I'd say a needle & seat is probably bad.

Couple taps with screwdriver handle over needle might get it unstuck sometimes. Don't use a hammer.

I'd pull the needle and seat and clean it or replace it.

That's a fire waiting to happen.

Thanks guys Replaced needle and seats No more leak and runs good but not real sure I got them set exactly correct Any tips for that?

There should be a plug on the side of the float bowl.
Remove it and adjust the float level to where you have to bump the truck a little to get the fuel to slosh out of the hole.
