Main questions: HOW DO I SQAURE MY STRAIGHT AXEL WITH STOCK RADIUS ARMS??
NEED ANY INFO/IDEAS ON HOW THE NEW COIL SPRING BUCKETS SHOULD BE BUILT & SQUARED TO THE AXEL.
Truck details: I have a 2000 2wd that Im solid axel swapping. I have a dana 44 out of a 79’ bronco, its the radius arm style not leaf spring. The truck came with a fabtech 6” lift which ive already removed. The only pieces im using from that kit are the coil springs.
Ive already removed the stock coil bucket/shock towers from the truck frame & that ill need to fabricate new coil buckets. The why the frame rails are formed, I know ill have to fabricate the radius arms, which i already have a plan in mind for and want the ends of the arms to end into a heim joint, not the stock style into a rubber grommet. Also have in mind how i want the radius arm brackets to look like as well.
Im thinking at this point i should cut out the material where the stock coil over upper bucket sat, plate it so its flat surface to work against. I have the axel squared using plumb bobs and pulling measurements from the front coil spring bucket bolt to the shock bolt on the rear axel.
Once it's back together have a thrust angle alignment done. That will show exactly how square it all is and adjustments can be made if it's not too far off. Any alignment tech worth a damn will know exactly what to look for and recommend a corrective action.
