Same. I just watched TFL Truck's video taking the Lightening to Alaska and as soon as they said they took the ferry I stopped. It cost me less money in fuel to tow my 5th wheel with my 22 F350 7.3l up to Alaska than a ferry ticket for their lightening.
Interesting, wonder what actually touched the fire off. I know once these trucks catch, they are pretty much done for since the Aluminum vaporizes from the heat, but what ignited?

There is so much plastic and foam that is highly flammable in new vehicles I wouldn't doubt if the seats or dash caught and it went up like a match.
Ever watched a side by side of what fire did in a house with furniture made from natural fibers vs polyester fibers? Natural takes forever to burn if it even will and those plastic fibers go unlike gasoline. They are a byproduct of it afterall.
Oh for sure. For a while there Ford had issues with the seat belt retracters starting fires after a crash due to the foam being too close and had a recall to cut the foam away. The shell though should have directed the energy away from the interior, so wonder if the electronics is what caused it to go poof.
The article stated the truck was owned by a guy installing cabinets in the house seen there, which was under construction. He may have had varnish, stain, polyurethane and such in the truck. A tree struck by lightning can explode violently, which makes you wonder what damage my have been done to the truck by hot shards of wood.
The only thing that bothers me about the possibility of losing my truck is knowing it can not be replaced in any sort of timely manner, if at all.
I have a friend who parked his 3 month old F350 under a big oak tree here in Florida. He parked it under the big tree because there was a severe thunderstorm warning with hail. He wanted to protect his new truck from hail damage. The tree took a direct lightening strike and it jumped to the truck. The truck burnt to the ground by the time the rural fire department arrived. .
