Driver’s Side Block Drain Identification
Please see attached picture and hep me identify the block drain that allows me to drain the coolant so I can complete my oil cooler gasket R&R. Notice there are two plugs.
I also noticed that the lower plug seems stripped, making me wonder if I’m better off just leaving it in place and accepting that I’ll get wet when I remove the rear oil cooler.
My 1/4” ratchet extension definitely is too small for both the upper and lower plugs.

The upper plug is your coolant drain plug.

correct. The one you have circled returns to the oil pan. I have my oil bypass filter plumped into that fitting.

That little plug circled in red is for engine oil.

And another plug for oil pressure, in the same general area, on the same side of the block...
(small square head plug on the lower left in oil cooler / oil filter casting assembly)

I need to do this block plug removal soon for my Goochy flush.
Is it best to do it from underneath truck?
I am AFRAID after 22 years plugs will be stuck, and i will F them up?

Yes from underneath.
Spray it with penetrating oil several times and best changes to get it open is when block is warm.

I forgot to mention, I need to change out radiator fan due to plastic fan breaking during A/C clutch falling off.
Do I have to remove fan shroud or can job be done without shroud removal?

Shroud has to come off...but that's easy.

To be fair, when Finnsters block is cold, it's
really cold.

Spray the plug everyday for a week before you remove it.
