Denny, rebuilt and working as a digital conversion or working with the original tubes as an AM radio? Big difference in who you send it to and the approach, as some are going to try to convince you against the tube radio.
local to you is someone who does digital conversion but I’m not sure on their ability or willingness to handle it as original radio. Ultimately you might have to be willing to ship it to the right person.
Denny I have a standard 51/52 radio in our 50, and a hi-fidelity 51/52 in our 52. The hi-fidelity definitely sounds better, awesome actually. Both are still 6 volt positive tube radios, with an fm board and audio jack. You can put a Bluetooth dongle in the audio jack that stays hidden and play music from your phone in that manner.
The guy that did mine retired, but probably others who are similar. The ford barn guys probably have some good advice, as their cars are more common to have original radios than us truck guys. They recommended the guy I used. He did superb work and it was restored to new condition.
I forgot to mention, on the 52, I had issues with noise coming through the electronics. I used the original noise reducers on the fuel sender, oil sender, regulator, coil, and generator. Problem solved, not sure which one did it though and those are hard to find. One gutted on modern 6 volt electronics might not require all of that.
I just got my radio back for my 51, and it is perfect! I love it. I had the same guy do it that did the radio for my 56 Mercury Montclair. I had the electronic conversion done so now it is AM, FM, with an aux plugin. He is in Nebraska, and very reasonable price. He is also great to talk to, tons of info from him. I highly recommend him to anyone. If anyone wants his name/company name just let me know. It looks totally stock/original in the dash but sounds like a new one.
