Trailer connector missing clips

The 7/4 pin trailer connector on my recently acquired 2013 SD is missing the metal retaining clips to keep it in the mount. It looks like the plastic stop to hold the clips in place have been broken off. I don't want to have to buy another connector, just yet but my plan is to wrap a hose clamp (probably 2) around the connector behind the plate and use the clamp screws to hold it in place. If you've done anything like this what have you done. Eventually I know I'll have to replace the connector

That would probably work, you could probably use some zip ties to secure it, you might even be able to use some gorilla glue to hold it in place, but for the $30 something $$$ it'd cost to buy a whole new one, I myself would probably just go that route....Good luck.
