calculating my biodiesel rating

so I just made 5 gallos of bio diesel. so I start with b100 per gallon

I have 47 gallons of regular diesel with no bio. so 49*0=49

add 1 gallon of b100 to the 47 gallons of b0. (1*100)+(47*0) = 147. divide that by the total number of gallons and I get 3. so I now have 48 gallons of b3. correct? I need at least b2.5 to make a difference.

(1*100)+(47*0) = 100, not 147...
But you're on the right track. 1gallon x 100%bio + 47gallons x 0%bio = 1 gallon of bio. 1 gallon of bio in 48 gallons total is 1/48 = 0.021 or just over 2% bio

If you want 2.5% bio in 48 gallons total .025*48= 1.2gallons of 100% bio (and 46.8 gallons of 0%) in the tank
