Hi FTE. Tom Here in central Virginia. I had been on FTE forum for years and left 5 years ago. I had 4 SD trucks, one F250 and 3 F350's. 2 with 2WD and 2 with 4WD. All were trailer pullers for my 3 different 5th wheel RV. trailer. Five years ag we sold the 5er and the last F350 and bought a toy hauler motorhome. This spring we had had it with the motor home and decided to go back to the truck and 5er. Sold the MH and started looking for other MH's. Saw a Thor with an F450 chassis. But the price was ridiculous and I don't like Thor's inferior quality. Finally settled on getting a new 5er and F250/F350. New prices were crazy and supply was as we all know scarce. I regret selling the last F350. It was a great truck. Searched a 250 mile radius and finally found a 2021 F250 XLT long bed in Richmond, VA about 120 miles away at a Dodge dealer. It had less than 7,000 miles on it. The first owner traded it in for a dually, allegedly. It also has the 7.3L Godzilla gas engine.
On the test drive I noticed it shifted a little rough and it had the gas peddle lag. But it had the turnover ball hitch for a goose-neck horse trailer. so was ready for a 5er hitch.
On the way home all highway, I noticed the economy wasn't great, 16 MPG empty.
I had a small truck with push button start, so I have to go back to turning the key. No biggie. It only has manual temp control. I all ready miss the dual temp control. It amazed me how quickly one gets use to the newer tricks and gizmos.
Picking up the new 5er in 3 days. Nice to have the truck all broken in.
On the list of upgrades. bed cover, banks peddle monster, and mud flaps.
