I was doing some post trip work on my 2018 F-450 and thought I'd provide some feedback on how my Continental HDR+ tires are wearing (pics attached).
When I bought the truck new in 2018, it was fitted with Continental HSRs all the way around. After 17K miles I started to lose complete thread blocks; not on the shoulder of the tire, but on the interiors. My local Ford service department sent me to the local Continental commercial tire center and they warrantied all six tires. The guy at Continental did mention that they were having issues with the HSR and HDRs so they came out with the HSR+ and HDR+ series.
Anyway after 35K the tires are wearing quite evenly, I don't rotate the rears but I do rotate the fronts every 10K. I also started running Centramatics with this set of tires. I don't know if I'll replace this set of tires with another set of Continentals when the time comes, but so far I'm pleased with how they are wearing.
Hope this helps whoever researches this forum for feedback on tires. When it's replacement time for me, I know I'll be combing the forum for feedback.
Mine must have been made on a Tuesday after a long wild weekend. These had about 35k on them when I replaced them. I have an open warranty claim on them. These are the front only. Rears were great.
Toyo M655 was the best tire I ran on 19.5" wheels. Just a tough rugged truck tire. They are a bit more aggressive than your typical urban steer tire but they were worth dealing with for outstanding reliability.
I run the Toyo M55 on my 17" and 18" wheels. Another tough rugged truck tire.
revisiting this as I just came back from another run to Arizona and through Colorado. Have 33K on mine now and the fronts need some attention very soon.
Any other comments other than the Michelins and Hankook?
The conti hybrids are garbage. I just ditched my fronts at 10,800 miles for Michelin XZE and they made a night and day difference. I am probably going to put them on the drive axle as well. Considered the XDS2 but 99.9% of my driving is on improved roads so the XZE tires will be just fine.
Anyone running the Michelin XDE2+? I've heard some good things from workplaytv on his YouTube channel. They seem super pricey though
The XDE2+ is only available in one size, and that size is too big for the OEM stock wheel. To properly run this tire will be even pricier, when considering the cost of new wheels to fit the tire.
