The conti hybrids are garbage. I just ditched my fronts at 10,800 miles for Michelin XZE and they made a night and day difference. I am probably going to put them on the drive axle as well. Considered the XDS2 but 99.9% of my driving is on improved roads so the XZE tires will be just fine.
Could you share more specifics around the difference? Less 'float' than before? Doesn't catch seams / grooves like the contis, etc?

I was just really disappointed with how they wore at first. Within 1,000 miles the shoulders had noticeable wear then the tread blocks started wearing to different heights. I rotated them around 6k miles when I got Alcoa's and the rears I put up front did the same thing. Then around 10k miles I started losing chunks of rubber from the front and rear tires. Also once I got my Alcoas I took my Centramatics off the rear. I constantly had a vibration between 35-45 mph then again just over 50 and above 72. I tried balancing them on a friends balancer and noticed how out of round they were. I figured that was the bigger issue causing the vibration. Then when I had the commercial tire place instal the Michelins up front I had them look at the rears. They also told me balancing wouldn't help because they had too much runout. After leaving there with XZE's on the front I realized just how crummy the Conti's were. I could feel the road, I didn't have play or drift, no vibration at all and the truck tracked straight. So immediately I started thinking about the rears. Tomorrow it goes back in to get 4-XZE's on the rear. They aren't aggressive but honestly I don't see how the Conti hybrids would provide any better traction since the tread blocks are so close. I thought about the XDS2 for the drives but they are $104 more per tire and my main focus is having a smooth quiet ride pulling the camper. If 4wd won't get me unstuck I doubt having the hybrids would make any difference. I will update once I get my truck back tomorrow👍🏻
Oh and we have tried Continental tires in the past on my Wife's Rogue and also her current Odyssey. Never have we gotten more than 35k miles on them. I feel like their quality has tanked overall.
Well I changed my fronts today with 33K miles on them.
I ended up going with Cooper Roadmaster RM170+ steer tires.
So far they run nice and I have them set at 100 psi. i have saved these to use on the rears if I need too.
I’ll be interested to see how the Coopers wear once you get some miles on them. They look to have some deep grooves. Did you run the Continentals at 100 psi as well?
Ford and Continental just denied my warranty claim on my front tires. So to the dump they go. Already gave the rears to a friend who uses them on his hoof trimming trucks.

What reason did they give for denial of your claim?
I'm amazed how Continental could release a tire to the market with this kind of durability and Ford Motor Co. for putting these tires on their product.

The previous Continental - General tires that Ford Motor Company issued as standard and optional equipment of F-450 and F-550 vehicles were far worse. So bad in fact, that entire line of original Ford chassis cab Continental tires was quietly discontinued.

My original HSRs started losing complete tread blocks at 17K miles…

It was a voice mail from my dealer so that is the question of the day. I will most likely take it to the next level as my dealership was “doing” all my safety checks and I have all the invoices stating pressures were fine.
only the last one listed bad tire wear.

For many of us it would be good to know the reason for the denial of your claim.
The edge wear is reported to be so common on HD3 Hybrids that I’m kinda leaning towards believing the tire is designed to wear the edges, and it’s not necessarily a tire design defect……, but what do I know ?
I have 39,000 miles on mine. The front and rear tires show the same kind and amount of edge wear, they have the appearance of closed edges on a steer tire, and the center treads look like normal tire wear.
Even though the edges look worn, they look to be thick/deep enough on my HD3s that I plan to simply continue running these tires up to the point of the edge wear beginning to look like it is getting into the tire casing……., and hopefully that never happens. Based on remaining tread depth measurements I kinda think the tires on my truck may hopefully provide over 80,000 miles of total service life before replacement is needed……., time will tell.
