Ambient light sensor

I have a 2016 f250 XL and have added fog lights and have them working. I want to add the automatic headlight function. To have this function I will need to add a ambient light sensor. Is the ambient light sensor the same as a sunlight load sensor? They look the same and go in the same spot

Yes. The sunload sensor is also used by the BCM as the ambient light sensor for autolamps. Nothing to add in that regard.
