Idle issue after ipr replacement

07 f250 stalled one day and wouldn't start again. With a lot of help from this site, I found the culprit to be a faulty ipr valve. The new ipr got the truck to start again but now has an idle issue.

Truck has a normal idle for the first 15-20 seconds upon starting. It then surges to about 1000 rpm and idles rough at that level. Hot or cold... The rpms stay higher throughout the drive.

I can start the truck and take off before the surge begins and the truck drives great. I can make brief stops and the rpms go to a normal range then, accelerate with no problem. The first time I stop for that 15-20 seconds, it surges again and keeps the high rpms.

My issue seems very specific but I can't find any solutions I feel great about.

No scan tool at the moment. Thanks in advance for any knowledge you guys have on this.

Where did you purchase the IPR valve?

Take it to Oreilly or Autozone and have them scan it.
