Hey everyone I’m new here, normally a gasser guy but looking at some diesels. So my question is, how much would y’all pay for a single owner, 1999 7.3 4dr 4x4 with 100k original miles? Just lookin for peoples opinions and any useful information they got. Thanks
My buddy sold his crew cab lariat with 112,000 a few months ago for 24,800. If I needed one I would probably pay around 22/23k that for a one owner low mile if it had full maintenance records and looked great. At this point in time. Two years ago you woidl be buying these trucks for 17/18k tops. I woild, say the prices may habpmg for a year maybe two but after that supply will catch up with demand. This shortage bs isn’t gonna last forever. I would rather pay more for a less abused truck then 15k on a 5 owner break to hell truck that needs 10k in work. The problem with something lik3 that is the 19k is usually just the starting point. You usually find once you fix the major stuff you're pouring money in the little stuff.
I always have gone by blue book value for any vehicle i have purchased and have had no regrets. I stick to middle to low book and if its not in that range then i would pass.
You also have to consider the audience you are asking. Most are owners who has investment in these vehicles financially and emotionally.
If i was in the market right now running the book value for a short bed in great condition 15k would be my top. I always shop around and be patient. Took my six months one time to get a vehicle i wanted. Dont get unhung up on one vehicle, its ok to walk until you find what is your range. There is always deals to be had.
I regret getting rid of my 99 7.3 DRW after seeing what they sell for now. The 7.3 is a gold mine since its one of the last non emissions solid iron diesels. The transmission sucks, but that is a good solid engine, easy to maintain, easy to troubleshoot, easy to modify, and NO DEF or DPF or EGR to worry about. The price has DOUBLED since I got rid of mine in 2012, $9600 back then, now an easy $18K.
I know my dad is looking to sell his 01/F350/7.3/CC/4x4/DRW/Lariat I think he's at appx 150k miles, he drove it like a granpa, cause he is! lol
not sure what he is asking, he's located in Harrisonville MO, I bought it with 50k on it, sold it to him after I had it for a year or so and wasn't driving it, as I also had my 02 F350, same truck, just black.

In a normal time I would agree with you as far as values etc.. I guess it depends on what timeline you’re asking. Two years ago pre covid…..absolutely deals were there. Yiu could get a loaded 99-03 diesel low miles for 16-19k all day long and that was the top of the market.
But if you’re speaking about today’s prices….the blue book values simply dont apply as much as they used to. As long as the demand is there it’s gonna sell. Sure there is always the silver bullet sale..guy has to sell because baby needs new shoes or old widow selling husbands old pristine truck and she is clueless as to the value but most people today aren’t
gonna drop prices simply because you pointed at a bluebook value. They should be negotiable but they aren’t gonna give it away or sell to you at your offer unless they are strapped for cash. Those days are coming but lots of times it hits sellers and buyers.
If I’m selling my f250 which is pristine shape low miles and well maintained. Current value is about 14-17 as far as bluebook states depending on who you use for reference
They are selling for 18k average in my area with 50-90k more miles and not as good a shape. Usually 3-4 owners. I’m seeing salvage trashed out junk going for 10-15k. Most are rear drive. A 4x4 sells for about 20k with higher miles and not as good shape.
if you’re willing to wait until the right deal comes along that’s fine. That’s the way to buy anything AFAIC. That’s how I buy things. But if I’m selling something it’s never a I gotta sell to pay off bills. Not everyone has financial issues when selling something

You mean like this Tourmaline? When I first saw the truck, I wasn't a fan of the color, but it's definitely grown on me over the years. It does need a paint job as most of the paint is gone from the roof and the clear on the hood is starting to peel.
But to answer the original question, 7.3s nowadays are going for ridiculous money. For a single-owner 4-door 4x4 with 100k miles, easily $20k+. They are very solid motors and the trucks themselves are pretty good overall. I just drove mine 3 hours down to the beach and it didn't miss a beat. And mine has 254k miles on it now.

thats what my F250 looks like except it’s that bright amber metallic ( fiery copper color) some like it some hate it. I only saw two trucks with that color so I know it’s rare
Im a cheap skate...so I would look to pay book trade in value....under the premise the owner would rather sell it to a family man that would use it for a while than sell it to a dealer would would flip it for a higher price .
