Newbie Looking For Help
I am attempting to rebuild my 1991 F-150, but I've hit a snag. Replacement part vendors keep asking me of the OE part number of the item I want to replace. I don't have any OE numbers for my truck and the vendors keep telling me to get it from my dealership. Problem is I don't have a dealership. I bought my truck from a farmer in PA (who since passed away RIP). Can anyone tell me if there's a website or other online resource that I can use to lookup OE numbers. I plan on trying to replace quite a few parts on my truck , so I'll be needing to lookup a lot of OE numbers. Appreciate Your Assistance...
It's common for one to ask for a vin, IRL or online. The only real thing we see here (on site) is usually a computer & that's done mostly with the calibration number on the door jam.
Second, resist the urge to throw money & parts at your truck.
I recommend getting one of these soonest if you plan on LT ownership for more effective troubleshooting & keeping a modicum of sanity:
It's been under $30 for the most part as of late.
Good luck & welcome again.
In addition to the above, If you're looking for a set of manuals, you can order a CD set of the basic Ford Service Manuals on Rock Auto, Ebay, etc. they are not expensive (I think RA is the cheapest). Should help you out for the most part. They can be cumbersome to navigate on CD, but better than nothing. But they don't have the wiring, emissions, manuals etc.
Good luck with your project.

God Bless all that knowledge you have, but not everyone is as blessed as you. The 1st word of my post was “Newbie.” The question was: “Can anyone tell me if there's a website or other online resource that I can use to lookup OE numbers?” I never asked for any one specific part number. In fact, I said I’m trying to rebuild my truck and I’m planning to replace “many” parts over the course of the rebuild. I want to be able to look up OE numbers myself and maybe gain some “experience” of my own.
I appreciate that you took the time to respond, but your response really wasn’t helpful in the least. I wasn’t asking for an update on the condition of the “parts” industry. All I wanted was a simple response to what I thought was a really simple question.
Thanks Anyway…

Thanks for your response. I just ordered the reader and an extension cable. I've used readers on newer models, but I wasn't aware that older model vehicles such as my '91 even had that capability. Just goes to show that you're never too old to learn something new.
I appreciate you Brother...
Thanks for responding. I bought the CD on eBay a while back. It's been very useful so far. What I've been doing is printing the pages I need for the project I'm working on, and I laminate them and place them in a binder.
Thanks Again...
Please test all parts new or old, before swapping out, many of us have done the, chase your tail dance, so be fore warned. Some of the parts stores will say things fit, that dont, can always come back here and check, especially, before ordering, off the innerweb, our Guru's are Great. Rockauto, and OReilly's, carry a lot of motorcraft parts.
Thanks for your response and advice. So here's the thing; In my original post I asked if anyone knew where I could find some sort of reference manual or website that would provide OE part numbers. Your suggestion (while much appreciated) is a little confusing for me. I went on Rockauto.com, but It would seem that I was lead down a rabbit hole. For example; I did a search for a water pump (I plugged my vehicle info to my account, [year, make, engine size, etc].) and it spits out a pump with no less that 5 [five] OEM part numbers for my make and model with a date range of 1987-1996. This is the same result I get for a number of different 'unassociated' parts.
For me this still begs the question: "Where do I find the 'FORD' OE Part Number list/bible??? There has to be a thing/place where OE part numbers exist. If parts suppliers like Rockauto, Autozone, NAPA, etc. have something they can reference (either hard copy or digital), then I should be able to access it as well. If it's on Google Chrome, the Deepweb or Darkweb, then maybe that's where I need to go. That said, it really seems like a crying shame that this is what an enthusiast has to go through!
I Appreciate You for your feedback...
Thanks for your response, but I'm trying to figure out why you think getting the EVTM (Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manuals) for my truck will help me find the OE number to part that prompted me to post on the forum. I never mentioned it, but I was looking for the OE number for my trucks door mirrors. How'd you arrive at your assumption?
Thanks...
