To begin, Thank Gawd I found this forum/website. It is extremely hard for me to find decent parts for my 72 F250. Iam currently looking for about 3-4 things and instead of listing a part request, I thought maybe someone here had some really good links they could supply me with for finding aftermarket parts for my Ford.
(I know about the classifieds here.)
Thanks to anyone who helps.
JUst a note on mac's. I got stuff from them for my Galaxy and it was poor quality. The carpet that I got was supposed to be OEM quality and you could almost see through it. The padding was supposed to be like the original and was also very thin and just in the very place where your feet go. Plus in the rear carpet they ecen put it in the wrong place and it is now under the seat. On top of all that the sun faded all the color out of it. Sorry for the rant, but I also got a couple other things that were no where near oem quality.

I'm a new user also, so sorry if this has been covered before.
I just bought a 1971 F250 4x4 (an old SD ranch truck - lots of dents but little rust) about 1 1/2 months ago. After browsing the on-line and hard copy catalogs of the various vendors mentioned and the usual local sources (NAPA, etc), I find a lot of stuff for F250's (& particularly 4x4's) is not available as reproductions. In fact, I had to scrounge up a set of NOS parking brake cables via the obsolete Ford parts vendors (NAPAonline was wrong - they don't fit). First one I try is Green Sales in Cincinnati (greensalescompany.com). If you have the Ford part number, you can check their inventory on the website, or they will research it for you. If they don't have it, they are usually willing to suggest other obsolete vendors.
PS - thanks also to you all for the great info on this forum that helped me in deciding to buy this truck.
sdranch71, where are you from? We don't hear from many folks from S.Dak and that is my old home turf. I will going to BelleFourche to visit my mom and sisters next month.
OOPS! I forgot why I posted. I have had several of those trucks and the parking brake cables are a real pain in the butt ig you do any off-roading. They are always getting caoght on something or getting bent at the backing plate and you don't know it until you release the parking brake and one of them is dragging bad. I say get rid of them altogether, plug the holes and put on a Mico-lock or similiar system.

why not put in a np435 trans with the e-brake on the back of the transmission i have a 77 b600 bus the trans has the e-brake on the back of it and it stops 11500 lbs pretty good up to 55mph
That may work but I think you would have the e-brake and transfer case shifter both trying to occupy the same area. On the old highboys the tail housing is unique to accomodate the t-case shifter.
Thanks for the ideas on the e-brake. This truck won't be doing any off-roading, just a general shop truck for now and plan to set it up as a classic tow vehicle as I restore it.
Willowbilly 3, I live near Black Hawk. The PO of my truck was from BelleFourche, and it was sold new at Murdo Ford-Mercury.
Hey guys, I'm not a real Sodak but I lived up there for about 7 1/2 years either at Ellsworth or in Rapid City and loved it. It does get brisk though. 79 degrees here yesterday makes me appreciate you guys in the parkas.
Anyway, back to the subject. I've got a 250 4x2 with HD brakes and I wound up going to www.controlcables.com after getting several of the wrong parking brake cables from different places. They build them to your specs, so you can get exactly what you want.
