Looking for info on the bolts holding the bed on a 2005 F150. I tried a T50 Torx and it seemed slightly loose. Is that the correct size or is it a metric size Torx, if there is such a thing?
I just helped on a ford ranger -they were T55. I bought a whole set of good impacts for 52 bucks . The one torx at orileys was about 10 bucks so we got it to get to fuel pump . I 'm glad we did not try the t50 it would have damaged bolt . I watch the reviews- don't buy just because they are cheap - impacts can shatter easily .
crawl under and spray the threads with penetrant a couple times / days before you try to get them off.... Smack the top of the bolt head with a 1 pound hammer 10 times before you try to get them out.. the SHOCK helps... Use an impact gun for removal, not a ratchet.
I thought the bed bolts were actually TP (Torx plus). No? I think most people get away with standard Torx but it multiplies the odds of complications by several magnitudes....
