Hello again!! (My original post https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1674410-53-f100-v8-flathead-ignorant-owner-motor-issues-3.html#post20165381 )It took about 3 weeks of some serious trips to and from shops to get fittings to cooperate! My brother and Grampie came over a couple weeks ago and we got the new starter in and then realized it also needed a new fuel pump. So I got that and then it was a infuriating time to get things to cooperate! Lots of swearing and wanting to take a sledgehammer to it! But today was the day! I already drove it! I only stalled it once on the road and then once while I was parking. There is some grinding but not much! It's so weird using my hands and both feet! My brain is a little confused by it lol. I have and orange triangle on the back with MAY STALL CAUTION. Just to help others know I'm going slow and stuff might happen! Now the next issue to fix is how to reprotect the bed since whatever they used is peeling and gross and make the speedometer and turn signals lights on the inside work! I'm gonna go and practice driving some more!
Ooorrrr not I kept messing it up and storms are moving in. Gosh dangit! And then it didn't want to start at all. Man this hobby gives you some euphoric highs and then it's just crushing when it doesn't cooperate!
congratulations on getting it running. Yes it can be frustrating but when you get everything working it’s a thrill.
From your post I assume you’re not used to driving a manual. What transmission do you have, 3 on the tree (3 speed on the steering column). Take you time and practice in a parking lot. Getting her going from a dead stop is the most important thing to learn, doing it going uphill can be a challenge for the most experienced drivers, but if I can do it with my uncoordinated self, you can too.
Oh I am VERY unused to it! I'm turning 30 in October and this is my first manual and a 3 on a tree to boot! And good I hope my clumsy self will get it sorted! Lol
Congratulations on your progress. Hearing it run and come to life is an exciting moment for sure but taking it for a drive is so much more, a bonding between you and that truck that you'll never forget. Now practice practice practice and before you know it it'll be second nature.
