Question What is good spark plug ???

Will a projected nose plug work safely in a 302 Windsor ?
What do you suggest is a proper plug with 302, Holley 2300 350 cfm 2 barrel carb, Pertronix II distributor & coil, long tube headers. I think I have a 180 degree thermostat.
I found a Motorcraft BC42c Or something like that,i have a couple written down I thought were right beside me here.........
Anyway what plug do you recommend ????????

Service specifications

Here are the service specs for a 1971 302-2V. This is for cars but I doubt the trucks were any different. The plug numbers have changed over the years so the best thing is to go to your favorite parts house and tell them what you have, and they will get you the right ones.
Your popping out the exhaust is a good symptom of a misfire allowing unburned fuel and oxygen to accumulate in the exhaust system.

This is the first printing in Sept. 71. It seems to indicate that Ford originally intended for the Boss 302 (302HO) to be the performance option in 71 Mustangs but with reduced compression or that 9.4-1 is a misprint. Thank goodness that didn't happen, and they built the big block killer Boss 351 instead.

CropDuster you help is amazing........
There r several differences in a 71 car & truck specs... Trucks r much heavier so they have special needs ( like me ) ha.......anyway.......my engine compression is lower and Ford suggest a hotter plug for a car 302. BRF-42 is a projected nose plug. Thank-U
My truck calls 4 a different plug.
I know what plug 1971 technically suggest, I was asking who may have found a better 2022 alternative. I will ask a parts guy but some are not very smart.........
a 302 will accept a projected nose plug, just not suggested in Ford truck manual. I was just being extra cautious because I am constantly finding exceptions, & surprising answers from some sources.

I think the old BRF42 is now either an SP420 or SP420A?

I have Autolite 25 for when my truck will be running. Equal to an SP450 since my GVW is over 6000lbs.

You listed the correct Ford Motorcraft spark plug number on your other thread.
